Vicki is home!

My sister Vicki arrived in Singapore in the wee hours of the morning, but will be going back to Perth in a few days’ time with me and my mother.
My mum’s glad I managed to obtain leave, because we’re planning to tour Margaret River and Vicki can’t – and doesn’t want to – drink wine. My parents however weaned me on shandy at the age of two, so I’m fine with pretty much anything alcoholic.
We’ll probably do some shopping as well, since it is an extension of my mother’s official job. If anybody has more suggestions on what else to do in Perth, do let me know!

Margaret river is beautiful, and it is very enjoyable to take the drive down – to see the caves, and even to Albany. You’ll see the last cafe before Antartica 🙂 Pembrook is lovely too and this time of the year, you’ll be able to see lavender blooming. There’s a little farmhouse cafe thing there that sells wonderful pies served with lavender ice cream. 🙂

Albany’s top notch. The timber museum thing-y in Manjimup’s funny, but only if you have the time. Enjoy the open road. Visit Clancy’s Fish Pub in either Fremantle (close to the film school) or along (I think) Leach or Albany Hwy. Yummy.
We stayed at a great B&B at Nornalup on the way to Valley of the Giants at Walpole. Highly recommended.

Hey, I heard of Margaret River before. Think my father and his colleagues once went there after a conference. Anyway, have plenty of fun (and wine! Though the two can be had together of course) and get away from the depression of it all here!
