It never ends...
Drat. I was all ready to sing into my Shure 58A microphone, only to realise that 'In order to preserve its high dynamic range and minimize distortion, the Audiophile 2496 [my audio and MIDI card] does not have microphone preamplifiers built into it.'
So I need to get a 'mic preamp'. Know of any good models?
Update:
I just realised the clock in the studio is a noisy ticker. Maybe I ought to replace it with a digital one so it won't affect the audio recordings. More money again...
Also I just upgraded my M-Audio driver. It's supposed to fix MIDI sync errors. Thank goodness, I did have problems with that occasionally.
