My KORG keyboards

My KORG keyboards

I just enabled Flickr to post to my blogs, so here's a shot of my babies.

Hope this post works!

Transfer

Now that the concert is over, I took a break then proceeded to do something that's overdue - plug into my old KORG workstation, and transfer the songs over in audio/MIDI format.

It's been a little vexing when you can't make out the LCD because KORG doesn't make replacements anymore - so everything's dark-ish. And the interface is of course less user-friendly than the Triton's, so I'm still figuring out how to split the MIDI tracks up rather than getting a jumble of notes into one track in Logic.

Triton Extreme updates

It appears that there are new goodies (under For the Product > Downloads) for Triton Extreme users. I'm definitely going to check out the Studio Soundbox collection and EH Sounds.

Triton Extreme system update

While searching for how to play my Reason files using the Korg Triton Extreme sounds, I stumbled upon a 1.03 system update for the keyboard. Available for PC and Mac.

Installing it using a Compact Flash card is pretty nifty. Everything went smoothly.

And I am still looking for an answer to my original question ...

Relationship problems

OK, maybe I'm not entirely pleased with the liason between VanPod (my iPod) and Triton Extreme.

For one, VanPod's energies get drained rapidly while in union with Mr. Blue. Not a good thing for anyone who leaves the keyboard on for several hours, because VanPod will die, and files therefore cannot be saved on it.

However, as VanPod warns me protectively not to disconnect it from the keyboard, the only option is to hook it to a power source (i.e. extra wires).

And if the iPod goes to sleep, sometimes you won't be able to retrieve your files - even when the keyboard is on. You have to restart your iPod by holding on to the 2 middle buttons for a while. At worst, you also have to restart the keyboard before you see the iPod's directory again.

Bah!

Thank goodness for old Compact Flash cards. Cheap(er), smaller and more reliable.

iPod meets Triton Extreme

My iPod and Triton Extreme keyboard.

Messrs Vanpod and Triton Extreme are getting along just fine, thank you very much!

The world's top MP3 player and hottest keyboard. Apple meets KORG. This is going to be a beautiful relationship!

Triton Extreme sold out

Korg's Triton Extreme has officially been sold out in Singapore.

I bought the last piece.

Of course, Citymusic only had four or five to begin with - though I expect the Korg factory to be producing more of these if they have a good business head on their shoulders.

Because these babies are gonna outclass everything else that's in the market.
