Frequently Asked Questions
Updated 29 April 2007.
Why did you study Law, if you're not doing it now?
This is a question I'm still asked, 7 years after graduating with a law degree. Go here for the story.
Do you still do freelance work? Can you design a website for me?
No. I'm a public servant now, and it's my duty to focus fully on my work. Thanks for asking, anyway.
I heard you or your site was mentioned in the papers.
vantan.org has been featured on a few occasions in the Computer Times since 2003 (as it was then known).
In 2006, I was interviewed as the co-founder of the Gahmenbloggers, by the Straits Times political desk. I was also interviewed by Digital Life on the topic of Second Life.
Frequently Arsed* Questions
The following are questions which actual people have asked me before. This will tide you by, until I complete writing the rest of FAQ section.
Q. What the f*** is blogging? Is it like blabbing?
A. This was an actual email I received. I have no idea if the person was kidding or not, but I tried
to write a fairly civil reply on what I believe blogging is
about. On hindsight, I should have simply referred him to my
previous entries about weblogs:
- So, what's a blog?
- What respectable institutions think of weblogging
- Blogging gets political (and personal)
Q. Link to my site now, and I'll link to yours.
A. You can send me your URLs, but I don't link to sites I wouldn't visit or recommend myself. 'Don't mean to snub anyone, but I'm a very busy person, and only have time to visit a few other blogs every day - at best.
